Activity-Based Working for a future-proof healthcare organization

Healthcare is changing. Demand for care is growing, the labor market is under pressure, and support services must increasingly do more with the same resources. For TanteLouise, this was reason not only to renew the Service Bureau, but also to critically examine the way employees work, collaborate, and are supported.

Together with Sheila Zautsen of WorkWire, Nassau Workplace Strategy guided the development of a new vision for working at TanteLouise's Service Bureau. The assignment went well beyond the design of an office.

Central to this was the question of how the work environment can contribute to better collaboration, more enjoyment at work, greater ownership, and future-proof support for care.

From 'my desk' to 'our work environment'

The starting point of the project was not the building, but the work itself. What activities do employees carry out? How does collaboration between departments take place? What role does the office play at a time when hybrid working is becoming increasingly standard?

Together with a multidisciplinary working group, we developed a vision for Activity-Based Working (ABW) that aligns with TanteLouise's culture and ambitions. In doing so, the physical, digital, and social work environment were considered as one whole. Not only did the layout change, but also the way employees collaborate, share knowledge, and make choices about where and how they work.

A work environment that supports care

The ultimate goal of the project was not a modern office, but a work environment that supports employees in their professional skills. An environment that offers room for concentration, meeting, collaboration, and learning. An environment in which trust, autonomy, and results-orientation are central.

By taking an integrated approach to housing, technology, and behavior, a shared work concept emerged that aligns with TanteLouise's ambitions as an innovative and future-oriented healthcare organization.
